56th Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts World of Wheels-Kansas City, Missouri

During the weekend of February 12 through 14, Bartle Hall in Kansas City was the venue for the 56th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts World of Wheels presented by Weld Engineering Performance. The show is part of the Championship Auto Shows series held in various U.S. cities and Canada. As always, World of Wheels fills Bartle Hall with sports cars, classic cars, street rods, race cars, rat rods, motorcycles, and vendor booths. Ticket prices for the show were $18 for adults and $6 for children aged 6 to 12. Discount tickets were available at O’Reilly Auto Parts stores.

There was an impressive list of feature attractions including Jack Walker’s Cavalcade of Customs, Muscle Town Display of performance cars, Snake Pit Fords (Cobras and Shelbys), Snooky Janich’s Barris-built 1941 Ford, and Summit Racing Equipment’s Pedal Car Challenge, to name just a few. At the Lowrider Nation display, Lowrider Magazine Editor Joe Ray and beautiful Lowrider models who were happy to sign autographs and pose for photos with fans. Meguiar’s representatives provided demonstrations of detailing techniques using their car care products. The Chop Shop also performed live demonstrations of their work. Again this year, pinstripe artworks were auctioned off to benefit Dream Factory of Greater Kansas City.

Celebrities making appearances at World of Wheels included WWE superstar Daniel Bryan, Olivia Holt (Lindy Watson from The Disney Channel’s “I Didn’t Do It” television series), and Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke from “The Dukes of Hazzad”). Saturday night’s music was provided by Danny “The Count” Koker from “Counting Cars” on the History Channel with the rock band Count’s 77.

Photojournalist/Account Representative - Kansas City, MO

Dave Baxter, a.k.a. Stripe joined our staff in December, 2003, as a photojournalist. If that road name sounds familiar, you may have seen his photos on the pages of such publications as American Iron, V Twin, VQ, In the Wind, and Easyriders. Stripe attends as many rallies, bike shows, and charity runs as he can and is a major contributor of photos and articles to our magazine. His first assignment was our January, 2004, cover photo, where he snapped the awesome photo of a 1958 Harley-Davidson Duo Glide. A rider since the age of 14, he loves to help and encourage new riders. Stripe enjoys meeting new people and looks forward to catching many of our readers in the viewfinder of his digital camera.
