2019-Run For The Wall

Written by  May 31, 2019

I'm told that this will be the last year for the "Run For The Wall"- “Rolling Thunder” Ride, they say its too expensive to do but everyone is paying their own way, although, organizers also say that it is due to them being charged to come through Washington and there is a lot of “RED TAPE”; maybe THAT'S what should stop, not this ride! I mean, they’ve been doing this in support of our veterans for 31 years.

All of that just makes these (few) images even more special.

The city of Trussville, Alabama put out a notice that the ride was coming through and that you had a really small window if you wanted to be on the side of the road or over the interstate to greet them as they rolled quickly by on their journey to the Wall.

Some of us had to work.....But the local Legion Posts, like the #107 in Leeds, #205 in Northeast Jefferson County and others showed up in numbers and  gathered on the bridge over the interstate with their flags and their hearts in their hands along with the Trussville Fire Department who hung a huge flag out over the interstate for the riders to clearly see as literally hundreds of bikes roared under to a sea of flags and hands waving in support and pride for our country and our Veterans. There were close to a quarter million that showed up in total that converged on Washington!
