Readers and their Rides

Tyler Wohlgemuth and His ’02 Kawasaki Ninja ZX600R

Written by  January 31, 2005

Last summer, a young man asked me to look over a bike he had just bought. I would have never expected the close relationship that was in the making with him and his family. I could see the same gleam in his eyes that I did when I started riding. He is eager to learn the mechanics of the machines, and rumor has it, he has already been seen at the drag strip and is ready to take on the 600 class this year. Tyler and his fiancée are two really great individuals and are avid Cycle Connections fans. So without further adieu, I am pleased to introduce you to Mr. Tyler Wohlgemuth.

CC: Tyler, what is your occupation?
Tyler: I’m a Service Advisor for a Toyota shop in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

CC: Do you have hobbies other than motorcycling?
Tyler: Yes. I enjoy Play Station 2 and going to the shooting range, but my fiancée takes up the majority of my spare time.

CC: Why do you ride?
Tyler: For that free feeling you can only get on a motorcycle. And I definitely love the speed and adrenaline.

CC: How long have you been riding?
Tyler: Two and a half years.

CC: What was your first bike?
Tyler: My first bike was a 1990 Kawasaki ZX 600R.

CC: How many bikes have you owned?
Tyler: Two.

CC: How many bikes do you currently own?
Tyler: One, but two if you count my fiancée’s bike, which I also take care of.

CC: What is the year, make, and model of your current bike?
Tyler: It’s a 2002 Kawasaki Ninja ZX600R.

CC: What do you like most about your Ninja?
Tyler: It’s very clean, has plenty of power, and the fact that you do not see as many of them as compared to the Suzuki GSXRs and so forth.

CC: What is your dream bike?
Tyler: Off the top of my head, probably an Aprilla Nero, because of the full carbon fiber body and performance.

CC: What is your most memorable riding experience?
Tyler: Two summers ago when I went out with a good sized riding group for the first time on a nice summer night.

CC: To what motorcycle clubs or organizations do you belong?
Tyler: None at this time.

CC: Which motorcycle rallies and events have you attended?
Tyler: Just local bike shows and events in the arenas.

CC: What is your favorite bike night spot?
Tyler: I’m not sure. I haven’t attended any yet.

CC: Do you prefer riding by yourself or in a group?
Tyler: Either way, but riding in a group is definitely safer and more fun.

CC: Who are some of your closest riding buddies?
Tyler: My fiancée.

CC: Just for fun, which of your buddies is the best rider?
Tyler: My father. He is very careful and rides with me when he can.

CC: Just for fun, which of your buddies is the worst rider?
Tyler: No comment. They all have been riding much longer than me.
