2019 American Legion Riders 15th Annual -911 Memorial Ride- Alabama

Written by  October 1, 2019

On Sunday, September the 8th, 2019, well over 100 bikes rolled out of the newest American Legion SSG Michael W. Hosey Post # 205 out of Clay, Alabama for the annual 911-memorial ride. Several of the American Legion Post’s shared in & contributed to this event.

"SSG Michael W. Hosey Post # 205, in Northeast Jefferson County, is here to serve and honor Veterans, their families and our local community. We encompass the communities of Clay, Trussville, Pinson, Palmerdale, Springville, Argo, Irondale, as well as NE Jefferson, NW St. Clair and Southern Blount counties."

Centerpoint and Trussville Fire Departments joined in and came out and raised a huge flag over the riders as they gathered for this journey, WVTM NBC 13 was also on hand to cover the event.

Riders gathered at the new Legion post # 205 in Clay and enjoyed donuts and coffee from Dunkin Donuts as they registered for this escorted scenic commemorative 911 ride and after party at the American Legion Post # 137 in Fairfield, Alabama, to honor those who sacrificed so very much for our freedoms! They made a pit stop along the way for re-fueling of bikes and folks before continuing on.

Once at the Legion Post # 137 in Fairfield, there was a 50/50 drawing, T-Shirts, Door Prizes, music and the ever popular...."Booze Raffle". It was a lot of fun, great camaraderie and a humble acknowledgement of the senseless loss from the events from 18 years ago.

Never Forget!! The American Legion Riders ride annually to remember all the lives tragically lost on 9-11, in the wars that followed, and to honor the extraordinary efforts of first responders on that day that changed U.S history.

Congratulations are in order for one of Centerpoint's Firefighters, Lieutenant Chris Brewis for being named "Firefighter of the Year" via the American Legion.
