It was perfect timing for the Saint's annual Raft/BOONIE Bike Race, it's one sure fire, fun way to beat the heat and humidity that IS Alabama's Summer time weather. People look forward to this weekend and come from all around to join in the fun, party with good folks, show off your floats and mini bike skills.
Up for grabs for the weekend were an assortment of prizes like, 1st place "Biggest Sinker" (or was that stinker?…no it was sinker :-) , "Most Boots in the Boat", Gold Championship Helmet Rights for the Next Year", and of course-the last one SUCKS!!!
There were a handful of folks that showed up on Friday, July the 9th, to set up their campsites for the weekend, work on their bikes getting them in the best running shape possible for the upcoming races, and to get a jump on the party as there was music flowing all weekend and great food, breakfast, lunch and dinner being cooked and served to everyone by Rex's BBQ Catering.
There were probably close to 100 floats that came down the river, and quite a few that had just come to float down the river, not run the course that the raft racers were running as there was a good mix of rapids and slow moving water to float in, they even had a fan on a porch on the river bank taking pictures as they floated by, he remembered the Unicorn from last year!
It was the 2nd Annual Mini Bike Races that brought several clubs out; the Boozefighters, Outcast, Saint's (including the Tennessee chapter) and of course, non-club folks like our buddy Christopher Litteral from the Alabama Law Tigers and his fiancé', Amber who is responsible for all the cool pix we have here. Of course there were a few crashes in the BOONIE Bike race but I think that's all just part of the fun in being here. Boozefighter, Chad "Hawk" Harvey was victorious again this year, making it back to back wins for him, the Saint's "Shaman" came in 2nd, and our buddy Chris finished 3rd again this year; way to go guys!!
They had all kind of fun stuff going on, there was even a big slip-n-slide set up for the kids (and the big kids) and the Saint's gave a brother who had been in a bad wreck a few years back, a bike; how cool and sweet was that, but that's what brotherhood does for one another!
This is absolutely, the most fun you could have getting wet......with yours clothes on!
